Spring at Home

A few years ago, our family went on a very long distance journey. We were five children, two adults, a van full of food, books, clothes and a partridge in a pear tree!

We travelled over 4000 miles, visited 5 countries, broke down, faced an Avian Bird Flu epidemic, a snow blizzard and stayed in some quite ropey places. But we saw SO much! Cathedrals,  galleries, Colditz castle, museums, more castles, damns (huge ones), mountains, cities, more castles and…..a lot of violins!!

That is how this blog began, to connect us with family and friends whilst we were apart. Since then, our family has grown by one and now we embark on a new journey, only this journey will  require no movement or travel – it will require us to stay at home alone! Well, there are 8 of us so, we are never truly alone (and I do mean never!). And we are apart from our friends and family once again!

The Ides of March have turned and spring is bursting forth in chorus. But the world has it’s eye on other matters – Isolation!! As we shut ourselves in, and lock ourselves down we hopefully have a fresh appreciation for the freedom of a hug, a handshake or a chat on the street. But fear not, we are social beings and we will find other ways to connect. This new season of blogs is to connect up our family and friends- a kind of diary to show what we are up to. I know some of you are home alone, and it’s tough for you- so hopefully we can share a little part of our lives with you so that we don’t all miss each other too much. The children have been really keen to FaceTime and I do like to chat live, BUT anyone who has FaceTimed with us will have experienced 6 children chattering in delay whilst shoving teddies and tongues into the screen which isn’t the best platform for sharing news – hence this blog diary. And please comment and share your day with us too. This will be mostly shared between close family and friends.
Be blessed by this time, try to find the good things and ask questions you never had time for ever before.

  1. This is lovely, I’m looking forward to your stay at home adventures! Also we enjoyed the chaotic FaceTime! Especially Albert’s tongue!! 😁 Love you all.
